When the Power Goes Out

1. Check fuses and breakers to see if the outage is caused by a source at your location.

2. Contact your neighbors to see if the outage is limited or widespread.

3. Call LPEA at 247-5786 (from Durango or Pagosa Springs) to report the outage.

4. Be ready to give your name, telephone number, and location.

5. Leave one (1) switch on so you will know when the electricity is on.

5. Stay away from downed power lines and call LPEA with information about problems with the lines.

6. Have emergency supplies on hand (candles, matches, flashlights, etc.).

Electrical Storms May Cause Power Outages

PARTIAL POWER

Loss of power in certain areas can mean an open breaker or fuse. This is an indication of an overload or defective appliance. When the cause is found you should replace the fuse or reset the breaker. If necessary, seek the help of an electrician (we are not responsible for any problems on the member's side of the meter).
