Every year La Plata Electric Association has
the privilege of sending students to Washington D. C. on the
National Rural Electric Youth Tour. This is a seven-day adventure
that offers in-depth exposure into the electric cooperative
industry while experiencing much that the nation's capitol
has to offer.
Some of the locations visited in previous
years have been:
The White House
Smithsonian Museums
Lincoln Memorial
Washington Monument
NRECA Town Hall Meeting
Visit with Colorado's U.S. Senators
National Holocaust Memorial
Mount Vernon
NRECA Youth Tour website
Requirements are:
- Applicants must be high school juniors
- Fill out application and write an essay-up
to 500 words about any aspect of the electric utility industry
- Talk to LPEA Board of Directors after
trip as a group
- Attend LPEA Annual Meeting as a group

The deadline for 2008's trip has passed. Applications are accepted between November and mid-December. We will provide applications to the schools as well as have it available on our website. If you
