  • Three added to Operations Team at La Plata Electric Association

Co-op continues to look to the future and improve service for members

With a look to the future and focus on improving service for members, the Operations Department at La Plata Electric Association (LPEA) has added three new employees to the team. Journeyman Lineman Toby Allred has joined the line crews, with Brian Marshall named Storekeeper. Decker O’Rand is a new Meter Reader Collector.

Toby Allred has been a construction lineman since 1999, working for various contractors throughout the country. He came to the electrical trade later in life, but has garnered broad, hands-on experience in the military and as a longshoreman, plus he worked construction in the oil fields and explored the agriculture industry as a long-haul cattle driver.

He served his lineman apprenticeship in the Pacific Northwest, in Washington and Oregon, under the IBEW Local 77, and earned his Journeyman Lineman in 2004. Allred and his family reside in Bayfield.

Brian Marshall as Storekeeper is responsible for stocking the tools and materials vital to the linemen in the field, and helping manage LPEA’s warehouse operations. He has resided with his family in Bayfield for 21 years, 18 of those working in construction supply sales with Colorado Fasteners serving the southwest corner of Colorado.

Born and raised in Durango, Decker O’Rand worked most recently in construction, but looked forward to a career at LPEA. As Meter Reader Collector he is part of the group working in the field servicing meters.

LPEA, a Touchstone Energy Cooperative established in 1939, provides to its more than 30,000 members, with in excess of 42,000 meters, safe, reliable electricity at the lowest reasonable cost, while being environmentally responsible.

LPEA offers a variety of apprenticeships and employment opportunities. To explore employment, or for additional information, visit www.lpea.coop.
