A life-long rancher, Mr. Montoya, with his wife Theresa, operates a cow/calf operation in Colorado and New Mexico. He has served as president of La Plata County Cattleman's Association, Hay Gulch Ditch Company and the Farm Bureau, as well as FastTrack Communications and WESODI, and is a member of the board of the La Plata Water Conservancy District. Mr. Montoya has served on the LPEA board since 1990, including several terms as president and ten years as LPEA’s Tri-State Generation and Transmission representative. He is currently chairman of the Administration Committee and member of the WESODI board.

A rancher, legislative consultant and former college professor, Dr. Compton is owner/manager, Compton Cattle Company. His experience includes the Durango Board of Education, Basin Co-op Board, founding chair of the Colorado Agricultural Land Trust, founding committee of Leadership La Plata, and past president of the Colorado Cattlemen Association. He is also the recipient of the Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award (1978), La Plata County Cattleman of the Year (1991), Outstanding Colorado Rural School Board Member (1986), and Colorado Association of School Boards Honor Roll (1986). Dr. Compton is past president of the Colorado Rural Electric Association (CREA), and a member of the Colorado Farm Bureau and the First Presbyterian Church, Durango. He also serves on the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission and is a board member of the La Plata Open Space Conservancy. With LPEA, Dr. Compton is the LPEA board vice president and serves on the Administration Committee and the External Organizations & Issues Committee. He is the board's CREA representative. Originally elected to the LPEA board in 2000, Mr. McCaw served 15 years on the Basin Co-op Board of Directors, is a past member of the Ignacio School Board and has served on numerous local and state advisory committees. He is currently a member of the La Plata and Colorado Cattlemen’s Association, the Habitat Partnership Program for La Plata and Archuleta Counties and a member of the National Cattle Feeders’ Association. He was also honored as the Durango Area Chamber Resort Association’s “Agriculturalist of the Year.” Mr. McCaw is the LPEA board president and serves on the System’s Operations & Planning Committee, the Budget Finance & Audit Committee and is president of the WESODI Board of Directors.
