In the non-profit arena, he is board president of the La Plata County Community Development Corporation and Fox Farm Village Owners Association. Former leadership roles include president of the LPEA board of directors and board president of the Community Foundation Serving Southwest Colorado, American Cancer Society, Durango Natural Foods and more. Originally from Chicago, he earned his BS in mechanical engineering from Purdue University, and his masters in automotive engineering from the Chrysler Institute of Engineering. Mr. Brodsky currently sits on the System’s Operations and Planning Committee, the External Organizations and Issues Committee, the LPEA Round-Up Foundation board and the board of FastTrack Communications. Ms. Patton has served on LPEA’s board since 2000, is a past board president and is currently secretary. She is an NRECA Credentialed Cooperative Director and has also received a Cooperative Board Leadership certificate from NRECA. She serves on LPEA’s Administration and External Organizations & Issues Committees, as well as the board of FastTrack Communications and Round-Up Foundation board. Active in the community, Ms. Patton is part of the La Plata County Service Extension Unit of The Salvation Army and the Community Emergency Assistance Coalition. She is a member of the Rotary Club of the Pine River Valley and the Calvary Presbyterian Church, and a graduate of Leadership La Plata. Mr. Wheeling, who recently retired from his position as CEO with Red Roof Inns, now helps run the Gardens at James Ranch, an enterprise originally launched by his wife Jennifer. Mr. and Mrs. Wheeling, parents to two teenage daughters, are also partners in James Ranch Beef. The James Ranch is a leader in agricultural sustainability and environmental stewardship. Mr. Wheeling, elected to the LPEA board in 2008, now serves as LPEA board treasurer, Tri-State Representative, and FastTrack Communications board member. Mr. Wheeling also serves as the chairman of the Budget Finance & Audit Committee.
