La Plata Electric uses unclaimed capital credits to provide funding for educational and community benefit projects with the Association's service territory.
In considering whether or not to grant a request for educational donations or other contributions, the following factors shall be considered:
Special recognition or awards for educational achievement associated with the request.
The importance of granting the request to foster education organizations within La Plata Electric Association's service territory.
The benefit or potential benefit to the community as a result of granting the request.
The likelihood of the applicant receiving funding from alternative sources other than La Plata Electric Association.
Up to five thousand dollars ($5,000) per group or organization.
Not withstanding the above, the board reserves the right to initiate or review larger projects that are more comprehensive in scope.
Only one application per year will be accepted from any one group or organization.
