La Plata Electric Association, Inc., located in beautiful Southwest Colorado, is an electric cooperative serving over 40,000 meters. LPEA is experiencing a significant amount of growth, with current year revenues forecasted to be ~$100 million. Total assets are over $235 million. LPEA also holds ownership in two subsidiary corporations.
The Chief Financial Officer, or CFO, directs the organization's financial planning and accounting practices as well as its relationship with lending institutions, shareholders, and the financial community.
The CFO, along with other responsibilities:
Oversees and directs treasury, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, real estate, long range forecasting, and insurance activities for the organization.
Gives overall direction to the accounting, billing and customer service sections of the Finance Department.
Directs the controller in providing and directing procedures and computer application systems necessary to maintain proper records and to afford adequate accounting controls and services.
Provides timely information, guidance, and financial reports to the CEO and Board of Directors.
Education and Experience required:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration
- Ten years experience in an electric utility
- Experience in Electrical Cooperative preferred
