How to Become a Member

There is no charge or obligation to become a member of the Cooperative. By signing the application for membership, a new member is given the privilege of voting and participating in the Cooperative's operation. A new member agrees to:

Pay all charges for electric service used at the applicable rate.

Comply with the Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws established by the
Cooperative.

Be responsible for the account(s) until it is no longer under their name.

Memberships are held jointly. A husband and wife hold equal responsibility for the account(s). For a joint account, either spouse may vote and/or hold a Cooperative office, but only one vote is allowed. Regardless of the number of accounts a member may have, only one membership is allowed.

La Plata Electric Association, Inc. is a service-oriented Cooperative. In an effort to maintain the highest quality of customer satisfaction, La Plata Electric has established a service guarantee. Contact the Cooperative office for more information.
