Life Support Alert Program

La Plata Electric Association maintains a list of members on life support equipment. If you or a member of your family uses life support contact the office in Durango or Pagosa Springs. Also available is a medical alert meter seal. The seal can be attached to the member's meter which will alert the meter reader to the fact life support equipment is used. This will eliminate the chance of power being turned off because of an overdue bill.

Tree and Brush Clearing

La Plata Electric Association conducts tree and brush clearing along the right-of-way of power lines to provide safe and reliable electric service. This is a legal right and responsibility of the Cooperative.

Tree and brush clearing is an essential part of the Cooperative's service. The Cooperative tries to control trees and brush at an early stage of development before they interfere with lines. Keeping the trees and brush at a low level will decrease outages due to natural growth interference. The Cooperative regrets the need to cut trees and brush, but it is hoped that members understand the need to cut or trim some of their trees or why objects in the right-of-way must be relocated. Please contact the Cooperative office before attempting to cut trees close to power lines. We will cut trees in the right-of-way area. The Cooperative offers a tree trade-out program to replace trees that must be removed.
