LPEA confirms salary for incoming CEO Jessica Matlock
Acknowledging need for transparency, co-op releases information
DURANGO, Colo. – With the understanding of the need for transparency, the salary of in-coming La Plata Electric Association (LPEA) Chief Executive Officer Jessica Matlock has been released. Matlock will receive an annual salary of $285,000.
“This salary is in line with other cooperatives and public utilities, as well as the salary for retiring CEO Mike Dreyspring,” said LPEA Board President Bob Lynch noting that Dreyspring currently earns $252,948. “We’ve always tried to be transparent in all we do at LPEA.”
Matlock will assume her position at LPEA on July 22, 2019.
Matlock, who comes to LPEA from Snohomish County Public Utility District (PUD) No. 1, the 12th largest public utility in the U.S., currently manages a staff of more than 170. She currently serves as Assistant General Manager overseeing customer and energy services, and external/government affairs, including leadership of the PUD’s efforts to develop and operate solar energy, energy efficiency, electrification of transportation, and demand response programs. Matlock also leads the PUD’s “Utility of the Future” efforts to modernize and enhance customer experience.
“Jessica’s experience in resolving complex rate and energy generation /contract issues, development of distributed energy resources, and her extensive network of partners and stakeholders across the U.S. will assist LPEA in our next steps as a progressive energy utility,” said Lynch.
