Nominate Local Heroes for the Fourth Annual #WhoPowersYou Contest

DURANGO, Colo. – La Plata Electric Association (LPEA), in partnership with Touchstone Energy Cooperatives, is pleased to announce the fourth annual #WhoPowersYou Contest, honoring local heroes. It’s a chance for LPEA members and employees to nominate someone who’s making a difference in our community, and an opportunity to celebrate the power of human connections. In addition to being nationally recognized, nominees can win up to $5,000 for the cause they champion.

To nominate a local hero, members and employees can go to www.whopowersyou.com and submit their nominee’s name, photo and a brief description of how they make a difference in our community. Nominations must be submitted by midnight on September 6th. Only members of Touchstone Energy Cooperative, including those in La Plata Electric Association, are eligible to be nominated.

Winners will be announced in October. An independent panel of judges will select winners based upon the positive impact they make on the community, creativity of the entry and the number of votes they receive.

Prize money totaling $9,000 will be awarded to the following winners:

  • Grand Prize Winner: $5,000

  • Second Place: $2,000

  • Third Place: $1,500

  • Honorable Mention: $500
